The Old Fortress, a superb example of Venetian military architecture, stands at one edge of the Esplanade. On the other side is the Liston, a beautiful French-style arcade with cafés and restaurants, where locals enjoy coffee, chatting with friends, and people-watching.
On the northern side of the Esplanade is the Palace of Saint Michael and Saint George, which houses the Museum of Asian Art.
Other notable sites in Corfu Town include the ornately decorated Saint Spyridon Church, which contains the relics of the island’s patron saint, the elaborately designed Town Hall (formerly the town theater and opera house), and the New Venetian Fortress.
